Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere leaps from the pages of books to the tabletop with Mistborn, the deck-building game. This title puts us in the shoes of the protagonists of The Final Empire (the first volume of the saga) and allows us to play both cooperatively, to face the Lord Ruler, and competitively, against each other.

Designed by John D. Clair (Ready Set Bet, Space Base) and illustrated by David Álvarez Astruga, Valeria Casale, and Logan Feliciano, in Mistborn, the deck-building game, we gradually improve our personal deck of cards by acquiring new and powerful cards from a central market. On our turn, we burn different metals to activate the cards' powers and achieve various effects, such as dealing damage or advancing quest markers.

As is typical in games with a deck-building mechanic, we begin the game with a simple starting deck. This first deck includes money cards, which we'll use to buy things in the market, and metals with basic powers. In the market, we'll find more powerful cards and allies who will help us achieve victory.

As the game progresses, our characters grow stronger and are able to burn more metals, thus activating more cards. In competitive mode, this means that turn after turn, we'll advance faster through the three quest markers and be able to inflict more damage on our opponents. In cooperative mode, we can face the wrath of the Lord Ruler more efficiently.

Mistborn, the deck-building game, can also be enjoyed solo, a true challenge only for the most astute players. This is a must-have title for fans of Sanderson's work, as it brings the essence of Mistborn to the gaming experience, with its system of burning and igniting metals. However, regardless of the theme, it will also appeal to fans of board games and card games in general, thanks to its versatility and the wide variety of cards in the deck. A fantastic game in every sense.
